Lilies

Neighbour Frank, he of the Peonies, also has this lovely Lily in his garden, and as Lilies are also
near the top of my list of favourite blooms, I'm brightening up your monitors today.

Needlwork

The knitting appears to be well done,  but the display is a little "different"!
At last Sunday's Farmer's Market.

Harvesting Pollen

This Bumblebee spent some time at the Begonias in my planter, harvesting pollen.
It's been a busy little bee, those pollen baskets on the back legs are packed with the gatherings.

Let The Chips Fall

Chainsaw carving in the parking lot of one of our grocery emporiums, as a reminder that Logging Sports
will be held July 14-16. It's probably more accurate to say "Let the sawdust fall", but that
doesn't have quite the ring to it. (And just watching the above gave me sore knees.)

Urban Wildlife

Strolling down the centre of the street like she owned it, checking on the traffic ahead.

A look back to see what's keeping junior.

Catching up to mama.
We see a lot of these around town, acclimatized to both people and our vehicles.
Wary, but seemingly not afraid.

Market Bouquets

It's the time of year that fresh cut flowers make their appearance at the Farmer's Market.
These were available  for purchase last Sunday, I'm sure there'll be more today.

Killdeer

I've posted Killdeer photos before, but they are a delightful little bird and when I come
across a cooperative one, I take the photos.

A late lunch, and according to the time stamps on the camera, less than 2 seconds
to scarf it down. Must have been hungry.

Phil

Phil - or so the chalkboard named him - one of the balladeers enjoying himself
on stage at the Market on Father's Day Sunday.

The Engineer

Of the Paradise Valley Railroad. Rides for the Dad's were free on Father's Day Sunday,
but with the cool damp weather there wasn't a huge turnout at the Farmer's Market, and by
the time I'd left I hadn't seen many takers.

And yes, we'll keep off the track!

Skippy

To quote that well-know fellow to the south of us, "Sad, so sad!", but I can't get Skippy in Canada anymore!
I stocked up at the time - a few more than you see here - but I've just finished the
last of my favourite peanut butter.
It was a long and happy relationship, but they've left me in the lurch. Sad, so sad.

Osteospermum

Truthfully, these aren't my favourite bloom, but they were there, and I needed a
shot or two for the blog queue. So here you go.

Old Friend

This Eagle is getting to be an old friend, we seem to meet regularly on the same
branch of the same tree. And like many an old friend ...

...sometimes you've had enough of each other, and it's time to head to the next tree.

Street Art

Street art, for lack of a better definition. It's a condoned wall, so I can't call it graffiti, but a Banksy it's not.
In Cranberry, on the Curling Club, a short section of a long covered wall. On the backside, and not
view-able from Cranberry St. Thankfully.

Roses May Be Red ....

...but I prefer the other colours (not least because I find deep floral red a difficult colour
to get right with my camera).

These were found at the little City rose garden at Joyce Ave and Westview, on Sunday morning.

I do these bushes every spring, can't seem to help myself.

Man At Work - Take 2

Fueling up his Cat excavator (from a tank on his truck, you don't just drive those into the service station) at 7:30am,
before the paying work started at 8. Three excavators are working at the lot below the
School Board offices on Ontario St. Rumour is more houses going in.

I keep telling myself that, now I'm retired, it's great I don't have to get up early in the morning,
but I still seem to be getting up early in the morning, if just to take photos.

I resisted the temptation to title this "The Man With The Dragon Tattoo". There's a large
"Oriental Wizard Riding Dragon" on his left arm.

Osprey

This week last year a friend and myself packed our camera gear in his boat and headed
"up the lake". That being Powell Lake for the non-resident readers. One item on
the list was Osprey photos, of which there are a fair number of opportunities up the lake.

June is nesting season, and there was a hatchling, maybe two, in this nest underneath that adult.

They are a magnificent bird, as all raptors are, but I've always thought they look just a little bit silly face on.

Sticky Buns

Lots of fine looking baked goods at the Farmer's Market yesterday, at several different stalls.

Some of it moved very quickly ...

...and I went home with some sticky buns.

Mixed Feelings

I have mixed feelings over Canada Geese. On the one hand they are definitely a handsome bird, and they
certainly photograph well. On the other, the  mess they make of our parks nobody would wish for.
But when I see some fool let his dog chase them out of the park, as happened here, I get
this urge to kick the dog ...and its master. Mixed feelings.

These birds were catching the sun at Willingdon Beach.

One half of a domestic squabble, best not to interfere!

Posing for the portrait.

The Seaspan Cutlass

The Seaspan Cutlass and two chip barges, her third barge was already on its way into the harbour.
Since they knocked down the scrub along a section of the mill road, it's a much better view
of the tugs on the far side of the "hulks" that make the artificial harbour for the mill.
Below is the Cutlass making her way back south at Grief Point, just an hour or
two later, pulling 3 empty barges a good way behind her.
